The next NFL market may already be open
Most fans are focused on the game in front of them. Sportsbooks may already be posting a spread for the game after that. That early future-week spread is commonly called a Lookahead line.
Depending on the sportsbook and schedule, SharpFish may observe eligible future-week NFL spreads roughly 10 to 14 days before kickoff.

What is an NFL Lookahead line?
A Lookahead line is an early point spread posted before the normal game-week market has fully developed. It is still a real spread. What makes it different is timing: more football, injuries, news, weather information and wagering can reach the market before kickoff.
Lookahead: Team A +3.5
Later: Team A +3
Game week: Team A +2.5
Those are three different available numbers, not three descriptions of the same position.

The number can move. The price can move. Sometimes both move.
Why look before game week?
Because a spread is not permanent. If a bettor eventually wants Team A, +3.5 can settle differently from +3 or +2.5 on the same final score. Seeing the earlier market gives the bettor another point of comparison.
Early does not mean automatically better. It means earlier information about a market that can change.
What can move a Lookahead line?
- injury or availability news;
- what happens in the current week;
- changes in team expectations;
- sportsbook repricing;
- wagering activity;
- weather or matchup information as kickoff approaches.
A move tells you the market changed. It does not, by itself, prove who caused the move or which team will cover.
Why the number matters
Suppose an underdog is available at +14 early and later moves to +13.5. If the team loses by exactly 14, +14 pushes while +13.5 loses. One half-point changed the settlement.

Why comparing sportsbooks matters
Different sportsbooks can show different spreads or prices at the same moment. The useful question is not only “Which team?” It is also “What number, at what price, at which sportsbook, observed when?”
